License
Course content
All written content on CoursesOnPhysics — including full courses, topics, and snippets — is published under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International license, unless a specific piece of content carries its own license notice (see Per-content overrides below).
You are free to:
- Share — copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format
- Adapt — remix, transform, and build upon the material
Under the following terms:
- Attribution — You must give appropriate credit, provide a link to the license, and indicate if changes were made. You may do so in any reasonable manner, but not in any way that suggests the licensor endorses you or your use.
- NonCommercial — You may not use the material for commercial purposes.
- No additional restrictions — You may not apply legal terms or technological measures that legally restrict others from doing anything the license permits.
In practice:
- ✅ Using pages from this site in a classroom, without charge, with attribution — permitted
- ✅ Linking to pages on this site from your own site or course — always permitted
- ✅ Translating content and sharing it non-commercially, with attribution — permitted
- ✅ Printing pages for personal study — permitted
- ❌ Publishing the content for profit or as part of a paid product — not permitted
- ❌ Reproducing content without attribution — not permitted
For the full legal text, see the official CC BY-NC 4.0 deed.
Per-content overrides
Some content on this site is authored by contributors other than CoursesOnPhysics, or published under a different license. Where this is the case, the author and license are noted on the content page itself. The per-content license takes precedence over the site default.
When reusing any specific piece of content, check whether an author or license override applies. If none is present, the CC BY-NC 4.0 default above governs.
Figures and third-party assets
Images, diagrams, and other media embedded within lessons may be licensed separately from the surrounding text. Each externally sourced figure carries its own attribution notice directly in the figure caption on the page where it appears. Always check the per-figure caption before reusing any embedded asset — the figure license may differ from the page license.
Figures produced by CoursesOnPhysics (SVGs in static/figures/) are covered by the same CC BY-NC 4.0 default as the written content, unless noted otherwise.
