Welcome to CoursesOnPhysics

It has finally happened: a website where I make the courses and lectures I have taught over the past fifteen years available to a broader audience.

I spent a long time reflecting on the best format for this, but a website always felt like the right choice. Not only because it is easily accessible, but also because it allows for a much more interactive experience than a traditional textbook.

By incorporating simulations and visualisations, abstract physical principles can be explored more intuitively, adding context where words alone fall short. In my teaching, I place a strong emphasis on understanding the underlying physical concepts, rather than focusing solely on their mathematical formulation. Mathematics is an essential tool in physics – but without interpretation, it risks losing much of its meaning.

The main goal of this website is to gradually bring together the courses I have taught over the years – always aimed at a broad audience – and to build a clear and solid introduction to the world of physics. I obtained both my master's degree and PhD in physics at Ghent University, and I have always enjoyed teaching, with one guiding principle at heart: true understanding comes first.
